About Me

It was during my maternity leave of 4 months for my second child when I was able to think through deeply what I wanted out of life, and reshuffle the deck of cards in my hands.  This was a pivotal point in my life, like a mental switch that turned on. I found myself in a clear frame of mind, ready to roll-up my sleeves and go to work and strategize how I want to approach building upon my career, and also my personal aspirations.

So I chiseled away what shouldn’t be part of my day. I became conscious of how I craft my days. I set some AM and PM routines disciplining myself to be consistent. But it’s not without difficulty; Oh, it is tough… I have to push myself to grow and go.

I’ve installed layers of accountability to help me through because I know I can’t do it all alone. That’s where God first comes in, then my husband of 12 years, and also my Mastermind group.

Family is my priority and motherhood is absolutely, hands-down the most incredible role I will ever fulfill.  So yes, I juggle responsibilities in our home as a wife and as a parent to two young daughters.

Writing is my creative outlet.  But I enjoy a corporate career as a Developer Team Lead in a Fortune 100 company.  I’m also an active volunteer in my community.

I know exactly how it feels to be pulled in all sorts of direction, shuffling all of life’s demands through first-hand immersion. I wasn’t a morning person before. But now, I rise with purpose before the sun pierces through the horizon. (Insert coffee here!)

I take my personal growth very seriously. My contemplative nature is imprinted in this blog. I love to distill lessons from evaluated experiences and crystallize my thoughts on paper, with hopes that I can encourage someone who needs a fitting word.

Hey, thanks for reading up to this point.  I’m happy our paths intersected.  Connect with me. I’d love to hear from you. If you too are a busy working parent, I’m rooting for you and cheering you on this journey to strike a dynamic tension between your personal and professional goals that stretches you and brings out the best in you.  We can do this!

Cheers,

SHIELA
